Soffits and Orange Peel
I've finally got over my procrastination on the kitchen and tackled two jobs I've dreaded. Dreaded mostly out of not having done them before. The problem with the soffits is that I'm building their lower edge to meet the upper edge of the cabinets, but how do you frame in a perfectly straight and level edge to meet something that's not yet installed? The edge will be covered by a "picture rail" molding but it still needs to be a fairly good alignment. The other item was the spray texture for the sheetrock. Bought a cheap HomeDepot sprayer and went for it. Ended up with a fairly smooth and fine orange peel pattern. More fine than I had pictured but adequate. Anyway, I'm certainly not going to do it over again. I got a little more than 3/4 of the texturing done and ran out of plaster. Will finish it tomorrow after a trip to home depot.
